Bonner selected to NESCAC women's basketball team
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior captain Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) was named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women's Basketball All-Conference Team on Thursday.
Bonner has been a NESCAC all-conference selection in three straight sport seasons dating back to last year. She was all-conference in softball last spring, earned field hockey honors in the fall and now has basketball honors for the first time.
A three-time All-American in field hockey, Bonner was the only senior or junior on the Colby women's basketball team this year. She led the Mules in scoring (13.1), rebounding (9.0) and steals (47). Bonner was third in rebounding, seventh in scoring and seventh in steals in the latest NESCAC statistics.
Bonner became the 11th Colby women's basketball player to reach 1,000 career points. She ended her career with 1,074 points and 804 rebounds.
With Colby decimated by season-ending injuries to three players who started games this year, Bonner picked up her game with five straight double-double games in scoring and rebounding to end the season. She averaged 17.2 points and 11.8 rebounds during the five games.
