Colby women's hockey loses to Wesleyan
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Wesleyan University opened up three two-goal leads during the course of the game to take a 4-2 win against Colby College in women's hockey Friday night.
Wesleyan (3-9, 1-6) led 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 during the game. The Cardinals scored twice in the opening period for a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Amanda Nickels scored just 21 seconds into the game and Anna Siliciano added another goal at 6:54.
Colby's Heather DeVito tallied just 19 seconds into the second period off an assist from Caitlin Hickey on a power play to cut the margin to 2-1. However, Wesleyan went ahead on a power play goal of its own at 16:10 off the stick of Jessica Fischer.
DeVito made it a 3-2 game at 10:09 of the third period on a power play off an assist from Lauren Goethals, but Wesleyan got the final goal at 13:54 from Adrienne Shea.
Meredith Katz stopped 24 shots for Wesleyan, while Colby goalie Genevieve Triganne also made 24 saves.
Colby (3-5-1, 2-3-1) plays at Trinity at 4 p.m. Saturday.
