WILLIAMS WOMEN'S HOCKEY STOPS COLBY IN NESCAC QUARTERFINAL
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- Williams College scored one goal in each period in
pulling out a 3-1 victory over sixth-seeded Colby College in a New England
Small College Athletic Conference women's hockey quarterfinal game Saturday.
Williams (14-9-2), the third seed, got the eventual game-winning goal from
Ellissa Popoff nine minutes into the second period. The Ephs then got an
insurance goal at 6:35 of the third period from Annie Snodgrass.
The first minute of the game was a wild affair. Anna Condino scored just 36
seconds into the game for Williams. However, Colby first-year player Lauren
Goethals (Needham, Mass.) tallied unassisted only 20 seconds later.
First-year goalie Genevieve Triganne (Point-Claire, Quebec) kept Colby in
the game with 35 saves. Williams goalie Denise McCulloch made 11 stops.
