Colby women's lacrosse defeats Wesleyan, 14-6
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The ninth-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team exploded for eight goals in the second half on the way to a 14-6 win over 14th-ranked Wesleyan University on Saturday.
Senior co-captain Emma Miller (Wellesley, Mass.) had four goals and two assists to lead Colby, which only led 6-5 at halftime. First-year midfielder Lauren Barrett (Fairfield, Conn.) also had four goals, while Elizabeth Ghilardi (Norwell, Mass.) added two goals and two assists. Allie Libby (Needham, Mass.) and Sarah Burlingham (Radnor, Pa.) both had two goals and one assist. Kelsey Neville (Duxbury, Mass.) finished with two assists.
Catharine O'Brien (Reading, Vt.) had 14 saves for her sixth win of the season.
Colby is 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) heading into Wednesday's league contest with Bates College on Bill Alfond Field at 5 p.m. Wesleyan dropped to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.
