Colby women's soccer ends season with tie
LEWISTON, Maine --- Jessie Gargiulo scored with just 4:10 to play to give Bates a 1-1 tie with Colby in the final game of the New England Small College Athletic Conference womenâs soccer schedule for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Russell Street Field.
Bates finished the regular season 9-3-2, 4-3-2 NESCAC, good for fourth in the conference standings. The Bobcats will host fifth-seeded Bowdoin at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow in a NESCAC Championship first round game. Colby finished the season 7-5-2, 2-5-2.
Gargiulo (Boxborough, Mass.) scored her team high eighth goal of the season off an assist from Kim Alexander Î07 (Cumberland, Maine) to tie the score. Colbyâs Libba Cox scored off an assist from Liz Morbeck to give the Mules a 1-0 lead with less than 20 minutes to play.
Bates held a 21-10 shot advantage, but Colby's Elizabeth Riley made 11 saves in goal. Emily Howieson Î08 (Holliston, Mass.) made five stops for Bates.
