Colby teams, athletes earn academic honors

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College women's crew, women's lacrosse team, women's swimming and diving team and men's swimming and diving team had players earn academic honors in their respective sports.

Women's lacrosse: The women's lacrosse team earned the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Honor Squad award for having a team grade point average of 3.0 or better. Senior defender Leah Weisberg (Falmouth, Maine), junior attacker Allie Libby (Needham, Mass.) and junior defender Liz Morbeck (Seattle, Wash.) were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. Libby was one of seven players in Division III to earn National All-American honors and be named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Women's crew: Margaret Duggan (Bronxville, N.Y.), Mariah Hudnut (Fort Collins, Colo.), Austin Phillips (Madison, Conn.) and Justine Scott (Spokane, Wash.) all made the Division II/III Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete Team for Colby women's crew. Rowers needed a 3.5 grade point average or higher for her career to be named to the squad.

Women's swimming and diving: The Colby women earned the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Academic All-American Team honor and the Superior Rating for their grade point average. Courtney Chilcote (Pepper Pike, Ohio) was honored as a CSCAA Academic All-American and Annie Muir (Springfield, Va.) was an honorable mention selection.

Men's swimming and diving: The Colby men also earned the CSCAA Academic All-American Team honor and an Excellent Rating for their grade point average. Jabez Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) was a CSCAA Academic All-American and Evan Mullin (Winnetka, Ill.) earned honorable mention honors.

Swimmers needed to have a 3.5 grade point average or higher for the semester of the NCAA Division III Championships. The Academic All-Americans also needed to be in the top 16 of an event at the NCAA meet. Honorable mention winners needed to achieve an NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
