Colby baseball loses two to Bates

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Erik Hood and Adam Worrall each hit home runs as the Bates College baseball team took an 11-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader in New England Small College Athletic Conference East Division play Saturday at Coombs Field.

Bates (9-11, 3-6 NESCAC) also took a 9-2 victory in the second game.

Brian Mahoney (Sudbury, Mass.) had two hits and two RBI in the second game for the Bobcats. Rob Schuler (Hanover, Mass.) scored three runs and Alex Maulucci (Avon, Conn.) had two hits. Bates pitcher Ben Shwartz (Mattapoisett, Mass.) pitched the first seven innings of the second game for the victory.

Craig Cooper (Trumbull, Conn.) had three hits in the second game for Colby (7-15, 2-7).

Casey McCormack (Keene, N.H.) and Brian Mahoney (Sudbury, Mass.) both had two hits and three RBI in the opener for Bates. Hood finished with three hits, while Griffin Finan (Bethesda, Md.) pitched a four-hitter for the Bobcats.

Tyler Hales (Lexington, Mass.) had two hits and Andy Carr (Conway, N.H.) had an RBI double for Colby.
