University of Maine tops Colby in baseball
ORONO, Maine --- The Colby College baseball team stayed close to the University of Maine for three innings before the Black Bears pulled away for an 11-4 non-conference win Tuesday night.
Colby (8-17) led 2-1 after scoring a pair of runs in the top of the second inning, but Maine went ahead for good with four runs in the bottom of the inning. The Mules did make it 5-4 with two more runs in the third inning. Maine added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Black Bears had three insurance runs in the eighth.
Tom Salemy, Roddy Ames and Tyler Hales all had two hits for Colby. Craig Cooper drove in two runs for the Mules, who matched Maine in hits with 10.
Colby will play host to Maine-Farmington on Thursday at 4 p.m.
