Women's cross country beats bowdoin in dual meet (Bowdoin men edge Mules by one point)
BRUNSWICK, Maine --- Jess Minty won her second race of the season, this
time helping the Colby College women's cross country team to a 16-51 dual
meet win against Bowdoin College on Saturday.
Minty, who won the UMass-Darmouth Invitational women's title last weekend,
finished with a time of 19 minutes, 10 seconds over the 5-kilometer course.
The Bowdoin men pulled out a 27-28 win against Colby in the other meet.
Karen Prisby was second for Colby in 19:12 and first-year runner Devan
FitzPatrick took third in 19:13. Anna King placed fourth with a 19:14 for
the Mules, who took eight of the top nine spots. Elizabeth Petit (19:21)
was sixth, Liz Turner (19:24) placed seventh, Hillary Easter (19:26) came
in eighth and Kathleen Maynard (19:27) was ninth.
In the men's race, Andrew Combs of Bowdoin won the 8-kilometer event in
25:47. Colby's Dan Vassallo was second in 26:07 and John Swain placed third
in 26:09. Jeff Alden took sixth in 26:38, Michael Collins finished eight in
26:52 and Fred Bailey was ninth in 26:58.
