Colby has 28 on NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team
WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College had 28 fall athletes named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Fall All-Academic Team.
The NESCAC format for selecting all-academic honors states that a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.
Colby had 22 athletes named to the fall team last year.
Colby's members on the team include: senior volleyball player Kaitlin Adams (Athol, Mass.), junior golfer Matt Aschaffenburg (Sharon, Mass.), junior women's soccer player Meridith Blascovich (Santa Barbara, Calif.), senior football player Mike Bracco (North Hampton, N.H.), senior football player Dave Civitello (Hamden, Conn.), junior women's cross country runner Elizabeth Coogan (Concord, Mass.), junior women's cross country runner Kirsten Davis (Franklin, Mass.), junior women's soccer player Meg Davis (Hopkinton, Mass.), junior football player Jon Forsythe (North Smithfield, R.I.), senior football player Dan Giuliani (Mercer Island, Wash.), senior men's soccer player Monty Hankin (Canandaigua, N.Y.), senior women's soccer player Kaitlin Herlihy (Simsbury, Conn.), senior football player Rob Jacobs (Mequon, Wisc.), junior men's soccer player Josh Kahane (Newton, Mass.), junior men's soccer player Daniel Kiernan (Brookline, Mass.), junior golfer Eric Legere (Danvers, Mass.), junior field hockey player Chrissy Maloney (Wellesley, Mass.), senior women's soccer player Kara McCabe (Watertown, Conn.), senior women's cross country runner Jess Minty (Concord, Mass.), junior women's soccer player Liz Morbeck (Seattle, Wash.), junior golfer Jackie Page (Peabody, Mass.), junior football player Mike Poplaski (North Reading, Mass.), senior men's soccer player Adam Rafsky (Fairfield, Conn.), senior golfer David Salmon (Sherborn, Mass.), senior field hockey player Emily Tull (Duxbury, Mass.), junior women's cross country runner Dan Vassallo (Wilmington, Mass.), junior golfer Matt Wahl (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and senior men's soccer player Adrian Walther (East Burke, Vt.).
McCabe made the team for the third straight year. She made it as a sophomore before the NESCAC changed the guidelines to include only juniors and seniors. Adams, Aschaffenburg, Bracco, Civitello, Giuliani, Hankin, Herlihy, Minty, Salmon and Tull were all named to the team for the second straight year.
Adams, Bracco, Kiernan, McCabe and Minty all earned both all-academic and all-conference honors in their respective sports.
