Tufts field hockey takes win over Colby
WATERVILLE, Maine ---- First-year forward Tess Jasinski (Oak Park and River Forest/Oak Park, Ill.) had two goals in her first collegiate game to power the Tufts University field hockey team to a 3-0 season-opening win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Bill Alfond Field.
Jasinski scored seven minutes into the game off an assist from Stacey Watkins (John Burroughs/St. Louis, Mo.) on a penalty corner. She then scored with about nine minutes left in the game to clinch the victory.
Lea Napolitano (Waltham/Waltham, Mass.), who assisted on Jasinski's second goal, added the final goal for Tufts (1-0, 1-0 NESCAC) with four minutes remaining.
Marilyn Duffy-Cabana (Amesbury/Amesbury, Mass.) had the shutout for the Jumbos. Molly Rice (South Portland/South Portland, Maine) stopped six shots for Colby (0-1, 0-1).
