Colby men's soccer player Kiernan honored

WATERVILLE, Maine ---- Daniel Kiernan (Roxbury Latin/Brookline, Mass.) earned New England Small College Athletic Conference second team honors as a defender for the Colby College men's soccer team.

Kiernan led the Mules in scoring last year, but switched positions to a defender after Colby was hit hard by graduation in back. Kiernan, a junior, added one goal and two assists while helping to lead a defense that allowed just 16 goals in 14 games.

Kiernan had four goals and five assists in 2004 as a forward. He was third in scoring for the Mules in his first season at Colby with three goals and four assists for 10 points. Kiernan has eight goals and 11 assists for 27 career points heading into his senior season next fall.

The Mules finished 7-7 and lost four games by one goal, including two overtime contests.
