Tufts men's basketball takes NESCAC win over Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine ---- Dan Martin (Sandwich, Mass.) made all six of his field goal attempts on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds in leading Tufts University to a 78-57 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Jeremy Black (Jamesville, N.Y.) added 11 points and Brian Kumf (Milford, Mass.) had 10 points. Brian Fitzgerald (Bedford, N.H.) chipped in with a team-high eight rebounds and five points.

Tufts (10-2) led 36-27 at halftime after shooting 55 percent from the field. The Jumbos used their size in the second half to open up a big lead. Tufts had a 47-32 edge on the boards.

Jon Bandi (Winchester, Mass.) had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead Colby (6-8). Mark Gaudet (Bingham, Maine) added eight points, while Nate Dick (North Attleboro, Mass.), Mackenzie Simpson (Casco, Maine) and Pat Featherston (Murray Hill, N.J.) all had seven points.

Colby will play host to Bates College in a league game at 3 p.m. Saturday, while Tufts heads to Bowdoin College for a 3 p.m. conference game.
