Colby men's basketball loses season opener
CHICAGO, Ill. --- The University of Chicago held the Colby College men's basketball team to just 16 points in the second half in taking a victory in the opening round of the Midway Classic on Saturday night.
Clay Carmody had a team-high 15 points for Chicago (1-0). Nate Hainje finished with 11 points and Jesse Meyer had nine for the winners.
Colby (0-1) led 37-35 at halftime, but the Mules had problems on the boards and in free throw differential with Chicago. The Mules were beaten on the boards by a 48-22 margin and Chicago went to the line 29 times to the Mules' 12.
Andy Jenkins had 18 points and Drew Cohen finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for Colby. Nick Farrell scored nine and Mark Gaudet had seven.
Colby will play the loser of the Denison/Rose-Hulman contest on Sunday at 5 p.m. (EST).
