Farrell, Cohen lead Colby past Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Nick Farrell (Aspen, Colo.) scored a collegiate-high 32 points and Drew Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) nearly had a triple-double to lead the Colby College men's basketball team to an 83-69 victory over Wesleyan University on Saturday.

The Mules went 2-0 on their trip to Connecticut and stand at 8-13 overall and 2-5 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Colby took a victory over Connecticut College on Friday night.

Farrell shot 10-for-14 from the field, including a 5-of-7 effort from 3-point range. He also was fine from the free throw line at 7-for-8 and pulled down seven rebounds.

Cohen was 9-for-13 from the field for 24 points and had 11 rebounds, nine blocked shots and three assists. Mackenzie Simpson (Casco, Maine) had 12 points and six rebounds for the Mules, while Andrew Jenkins (Gorham, Maine) dished six assists and had seven points.

Colby shot nearly 56 percent from the field in the second half and finished the game with 53 percent shooting. The Mules also were 25-for-37 from the foul line compared to Wesleyan's 12-for-19 effort.

The Mules led 37-25 at halftime and then Farrell scored 18 of Colby's first 25 points in the second half to help his team to a 62-42 lead with 10:20 remaining. Wesleyan (6-14, 0-8 NESCAC) got as close as 75-67 with 1:37 remaining.

Nick Pelletier had 22 points and seven rebounds to pace the Cardinals. Jared Ashe had a solid all-around game with 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
