Covelli leads men's hockey past Curry, 3-2
MILTON, Mass. --- First-year forward Joel Covelli had one goal and two assists and junior goaltender Ben Grandjean stopped 39 shots to help the Colby College men's hockey team take a 3-2 win at Curry College on Tuesday night.
Covelli was part of all three goals, including scoring the game-winning goal at 9:00 of the third period off an assist from Ryan Chrenek. Covelli now has five goals and eight assists for 13 points for Colby (8-2).
Grandjean made 15 stops in the second period and equaled that with 15 more saves in the third period in moving to 3-0 this season and earning his 10th career win.
Colby never gave up the lead in the game, but Curry fought back twice to tie the game. The Mules jumped ahead 1-0 after the opening period on a power play goal by Joe Rothwell on assists from Covelli and Arthur Fritch.
Curry made it 1-1 on a power play goal by James Pentecost at 11:21 of the second period, but the Mules went ahead again when Greg Osborne got his 12th goal of the season from assists by Covelli and Ryan O'Flanagan.
Curry (6-6) got a goal from Bret Adams at 4:32 of the third period to tie the game at 2-2.
Lenny Mosca had 25 saves for Curry, which had a 41-28 advantage in shots.
Colby will play at home against New England College at 7 p.m. Friday.
