Colby men's hockey at 7-0 after defeating Skidmore

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The 13th-ranked Colby College men's hockey team improved to 7-0 overall as Ryan Chrenek (Grande Prarie, Alberta) had three goals in a 7-4 victory over Skidmore College at Alfond Rink on Saturday.

Skidmore (0-5) took a 1-0 lead just 1:26 into the game on a goal by Rob Hutchison (Waterville, N.Y.). However, the Mules got goals from Todd O'Hara (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Cass Buttafuoco (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) to take a 2-1 lead at the break.

Greg Osborne (Stoughton, Mass.) gave the Mules a 3-1 lead at 7:41 of the second period, but Skidmore kept it close after two when Mike Gibbons (Braintree, Mass.) scored at 11:02.

Chrenek put the game away with goals at 50 seconds and at 6:30 of the third period.

After a goal by Skidmore's Scott Schaub (Pennington, N.J.) cut the lead to 5-3, Chrenek tallied again at 12:26. Skidmore's Mike Gibbons (Braintree, Mass.) and Colby's Adam Marino (Lexington, Mass.) traded goals in the final six minutes.
