Colby men's lacrosse tops Wheaton in home opener
WATERVILLE, Maine ---- The Colby College men's lacrosse team scored two goals in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter to pull away for a 9-4 non-conference victory over Wheaton College on Sunday at Bill Alfond Field.
The Mules (1-1), playing their home opener, led 5-3 after three quarters. Dana McNally (Sudbury, Mass.) tallied unassisted with 13:23 to go and then Caddy Brooks (Darien, Conn.) gave Colby a 7-3 margin with another unassisted goal just 1:22 later. Wheaton (1-3) got as close as 7-4 with a goal with 5:48 remaining, but the Mules got the final two scores.
Brooks finished with two goals and one assist for the Mules, while Luis Mendoza (Washington, D.C.) added one goal and two assists. Rory Murphy (Brunswick, Maine) and Ryan Scott (Columbia, N.J.) both had two goals.
Andrew Rohan (South Hadley, Mass.) paced the Lyons with two goals, while Adam Cohen (Montpelier, Vt.) and Trey Helms (Cockeysville, Md.) each one goal and one assist.
Jeff Miller (Marshfield, Mass.) had 10 saves for Colby, which will play host to Babson College in another non-conference game Thursday at 4 p.m.
