Colby men's lacrosse loses tough game to Amherst, 10-9
AMHERST, Mass. --- Sean Murray scored as time expired to lift the Amherst College men's lacrosse team to a 10-9 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
Colby led 9-7 in the fourth quarter, but Amherst (2-3 overall, 1-3 NESCAC) scored three goals in the final 5:05 to pull out the win.
Ryan Scott paced Colby (2-4, 0-3) with three goals, while Drew Piekarski added two goals and one assist. Rory Murphy and Caddy Brooks both had one goal and one assist for the Mules. Todd Boertzel and Zach Goodnough also tallied for Colby.
Matt Pietroforte finished with 17 saves for Amherst. Jeff Miller stopped 12 shots for the Mules.
Colby plays host to Bates College at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
