Colby men's lacrosse earns win over Trinity, 8-7
WATERVILLE, Maine –- Tim Brown (Manchester, Mass.) scored with 9:41 left in the game and that goal proved to be the game winner as the Colby College men’s lacrosse team held on for an 8-7 victory over Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Bill Alfond Field.
Brown’s goal gave Colby (3-5, 1-4 NESCAC) an 8-5 lead, but Trinity (4-4, 1-4 NESCAC) did not make it easy. The Bantams got a goal from Kris Tedeschi with 6:53 left to make it 8-6 and then Peter McIntire (Dover, Mass.) connected on a man-up goal with just 22.8 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 8-7. Trinity did win the face-off, but the Mules were able to hold defensively.
First-year attacker Caddy Brooks (Darien, Conn.) had two goals and one assist to lead the Mules. Dan Schupack (Cheshire, Conn.) also had two goals, while Rory Murphy (Brunswick, Maine), Todd Boertzel (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and Drew Piekarski (East Sandwich, Mass.) all had one goal.
McIntire finished with two goals and one assist for Trinity, which trailed 5-2 at halftime. Chad Burdette (Owings Mill, Md.) added one goal and two assists and the Bantams also received a goal and an assist from Curtis Khan (Cohasset, Mass.).
Jeff Miller (Marshfield, Mass.) made four of his eight saves in the fourth quarter for Colby.
