Amherst edges Colby in men's soccer, 4-3
WATERVILLE, Maine -- Mike Wohl (Northampton, Mass.) had three goals,
including the game-winning score in the 79th minute, to power Amherst
College to a 4-3 win against Colby College in New England Small College
Athletic Conference play Saturday.
Wohl and Nick Lynch (Kingston, Jamaica) had goals in the opening half to
give the Lord Jeffs (6-3-2, 3-2-1 NESCAC) a 2-0 lead at intermission.
Colby (5-6, 1-6) cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Michael Butler (St. John,
New Brunswick), but Wohl scored his second goal in the 69th minute for a
3-1 lead.
The Mules battled back to tie the game at 3-3 on goals by Monty Hankin
(Canandaigua, N.Y.) in the 73rd minute and Todd Boertzel (Mountain Lakes,
N.H.) in the 74th minute.
Wohl tallied unassisted about five minutes later to give Amherst the win.
