Kinder's goal lifts men's soccer past Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn. --- Sophomore Will Kinder (Wilbraham, Mass.) scored with
12:18 to play, lifting Colby College (7-6, 2-6) to a 2-1 victory over host
Connecticut College (4-8, 1-7) in NESCAC men's soccer action played on
Harkness Green Saturday afternoon.
Colby took a 1-0 lead 5:45 into the contest. Bobby Abendroth (Natick,
Mass.) recovered a loose ball in front of the net and chipped one in for
the Mules. The Camels evened the score with a goal from David Kellogg in
the 14th minute, and the score remained tied at one as the clubs headed for
intermission.
Connecticut College freshman keeper Ted Lane (Portland, Ore.) kept the
visitors off the board with some nifty footwork in net. Lane stopped eight
shots in the second half and finished with a season-high 12 saves in the
game. But with 12:18 to play, Will Kinder scored for Colby and the Mules
regained a one goal advantage, 2-1. Colby was able to hang on for the 2-1
victory.
Junior net-minder Josh Kahane (Newton, Mass.) had two saves for the Mules.
