Colby men's soccer defeats Southern Maine
WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's soccer team scored one goal in each half in taking a 2-0 non-conference victory over University of Southern Maine on Wednesday.
The Mules improve to 3-2 overall, while the Huskies fall to 1-6-1.
Chris MacFadyen (Moses Brown/Providence, R.I.) got the eventual game-winning goal just 6:45 into the game off an assist from senior captain Bobby Abendroth (BB&N/Natick, Mass.).
The Mules made it 2-0 about 20 minutes into the second half when two first-year players connected on the insurance goal. Tom Milaschewski (St. John's Prep/Beverly, Mass.) scored his first collegiate goal and Todd Boertzel (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.H.) had his first collegiate assist on the play.
Colby and goalkeeper Josh Kahane (Newton North/Newton, Mass.) recorded a second straight shutout. The Mules, who took a 1-0 overtime win against Trinity College on Saturday, got four saves from Kahane.
Chris Willard (Parish Hill/Hampton, Conn.) was credited with two stops for USM.
Colby plays at Middlebury College at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Huskies play at UMass-Boston at 1 p.m. Saturday.
