Alpine skiers in top 10 for Colby at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – Jody Centauro finished in fifth place in the slalom for the Colby College men’s alpine ski team and Abbi Lathrop was seventh for the women’s team at the Dartmouth College Ski Carnival on Saturday.

Both Colby slalom teams finished a strong fifth place out of 10 teams.

Centauro had runs of 46.48 and 46.03 for a two-run total time of 1:32.51. University of Vermont’s Greg Hardy won the event in 1:29.81. Colby’s Charlie Reed was 15th in 1:36.00 and Ryan Praskievicz took 21st in 1:39.76.

Lathrop had a two-run total time of 1:39.65 on trips of 46.20 and 53.45. University of Vermont’s Hilary McCloy was the winner in 1:36.92. Brett Wagenheim took 21st place for the Mules in 1:45.17 and teammate Alissa Consenstein was right behind her in 22nd in 1:45.48. Ashley Best took 29th place in 1:48.25, Caitlin Healey had a 1:48.98 for 30th and Mckenzie Wessen finished 31st in 1:50.16.

In men’s Nordic skiing, Fred Bailey was 24th for Colby in the 10-kilometer classic race as the Mules placed eighth out of 12 teams.

Hillary Easter was 31st for the women’s Nordic team in 17:48.5 over the 5-kilometer course. Kathleen Maynard took 37th place in 18:05.0 and Alex Jospe was 39th in 18:06.9.

In the final total team scores (alpine and Nordic combined), Colby took seventh place out of 15 squads with 505 points. Vermont won the event with 815 points.
