Lathrop seventh in giant slalom at Williams
HANCOCK, Mass. --- Colby College women's alpine skier Abbi Lathrop placed seventh in the giant slalom at the Williams College Ski Carnival on Saturday at Jiminy Peak.
Lathrop had times of 49.07 and 51.08 for a two-run clocking of 1:40.15 to help the Mules place seventh out of 10 teams with 71 points. Colby was just four points out of fifth place.
Brett Wagenheim was 27th for the women's alpine team in 1:48.67. Caitlin Healey took 30th place in 1:49.45, Alissa Consenstein was 35th in 1:50.56 and Ashley Best finished 38th in 1:51.77.
Jody Centauro was 27th for the Colby men's alpine team in 1:40.78 as the Mules placed eighth in the event. Rory Kelly took 35th in 1:43.35 and Sam Pelletier was 37th in 1:44.46.
In Nordic freestyle relay, the men's Colby team of Fred Bailey, Austin Ross and Kris Dobie took 11th place in 36:25.0. Jeff Alden, John Swain and Brandon Smithwood joined forces to take 15th place in 37:02.2.
Kathleen Maynard, Hillary Easter and Alex Jospe took 14th place for the Colby women in the relay event with a time of 41:53.6. The other Colby team of Aime Schwartz, Alyssa Lee and Katie Klepinski placed 16th in 45:09.3. Both Nordic teams placed eighth in the relay events.
In total team scores (Nordic and alpine combined), Colby was seventh out of 11 teams with 494 points.
