Women's alpine takes fourth in giant slalom at Easterns
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Colby College women's alpine skier Abbi Lathrop placed eighth in the giant slalom and helped her team take fourth in the event at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Championships hosted by Middlebury College on Friday.
Lathrop had times of 1:09.32 and 1:07.47 for a two-run clocking of 2:16.79. The Mules' finish was probably the best the team could manage since Vermont, Middlebury and New Hampshire routinely score more than 100 points. Colby finished with 79 points and edged out Dartmouth (78), St. Lawrence (78), Williams (77) and Bates (69) in the 11-team field.
Colby had six women's alpine skiers in the top 40. Brett Wagenheim was 22nd in 2:19.93, Caitlin Healey had a 2:20.28 for 28th place, Ashley Best took 29th in 2:20.48, McKenzie Wessen was 32nd in 2:21.03 and Alissa Consenstein placed 39th in 2:23.76.
