Colby men's alpine team fourth in slalom at Eastern meet

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- A day after the women's alpine team finished in fourth place in the giant slalom, the Colby College men's alpine team equaled that finish by taking fourth place in the slalom at the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) Championships at Middlebury College on Saturday.

Jody Centauro took eighth place in 1:30.59 over his two runs, while teammate Rory Kelly was 12th in 1:31.40. Charlie Reed finished in 23rd place in 1:33.17 as the Mules were just three points out of third place. Christian Talmage took 31st in 1:36.21 and Ryan Praskievicz was 32nd with a 1:37.19.

The women's alpine team had another solid finish by taking sixth place in the slalom. Abbi Lathrop took seventh place in 1:35.92 over two runs. Brett Wagenheim was 20th in 1:41.98 and Alissa Consenstein took 23rd in 1:42.53. Caitlin Healey finished 26th in 1:43.43 and Ashley Best was 28th in 1:44.27.

In men's Nordic skiing, Fred Bailey was 12th in 28:31.9 for Colby in the 10-kilometer classic event as the Mules took eighth place. Kris Dobie was 36th in 30:08.7, John Swain had a 30:09.6 for 37th place, Austin Ross also was at 30:09.6 for 38th place and Matt Briggs took 40th in 30:21.1.

The Colby women's Nordic team also was eighth as Alex Jospe took 23rd place in the 5-kilometer classic in 17:07.6. Aime Schwartz took 35th place in 17:29.8 and Hillary Easter was 37th with a 17:31.3.

Colby was eighth in the overall team score (alpine and Nordic combined) out of 11 schools.
