Colby softball beats Brandeis, loses other game

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The St. Joseph's College (Maine) softball team took a 3-1 victory over Bates College and an 8-2 win over Colby College in the first day of the Colby Tournament on Saturday.

In the other two games Saturday, Colby held on for a 2-1 win over Brandeis University and then Brandeis took a 5-2 victory over Bates.

Play continues with four more games Sunday.
