St. JOseph's softball takes two from Colby
STANDISH, Maine ---- St. Jospeh's College scored two runs in the first inning of each game on the way to 3-1 and 7-2 non-conference victories over Colby College in softball Thursday night.
The first game was a pitchers duel with the Monks' Gabrielle Burrola allowing no earned runs, striking out three and walking none. Colby's Lauren Olmsted allowed just two hits, one earned run, eight strikeouts and four walks.
St. Joseph's scored two unearned runs in the first inning. Colby got its lone run when Amy Palmer had an RBI double to score Mollie Puskar. Carlie Minichino had two hits in the game.
The Monks scored twice in the first and four times in the fourth inning to pull away in the second game. Palmer and Puskar each had two hits, while Randi Arsenault had an RBI double.
