Trinity softball takes two games from Mules
HARTFORD, Conn. --- The Colby College softball team gave Trinity College, the second ranked team in New England, a tough time in 5-4 and 5-3 losses to the Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference East Division play Sunday.
Trinity is 15-3 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Mules fell to 2-11 and 0-2 in the conference.
In the opener, Colby had a 1-0 lead after the first two innings. The Bantams scored twice in the third inning and had three runs in the sixth. The Mules just missed tying the game when Carlie Minichino’s blast in the seventh inning just missed clearing the wall for a three-run homer. Instead, the Mules got two runs and just fell short in the game.
Trinity opened up a 5-0 lead after four innings in the second game. Colby chipped away with three runs, but could not get closer.
