Squash teams each win once at NESCAC tourney

HARTFORD, Conn. --- The Colby College squash teams each won one match at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Squash Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The Colby women fell 8-1 to Bowdoin College in a quarterfinal match and then took a 5-4 victory over Amherst College in a consolation round match. The Mules (12-10) were going to play Connecticut College in a fifth-place match on Sunday, but the match was called off so teams could get home and away from the heavy snow that hit the Hartford area Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the Colby men (9-13) took a 7-2 win over Middlebury College in a qualifying match. The Mules then lost 9-0 to Williams College in a quarterfinal match and also fell 7-2 to Tufts University in a consolation round match.

Emilie Slack, Nina Delano, Jessica Vogel, Catherine Monrad and Beth Cole all had wins for the Colby women in the victory over Amherst. Delano had the lone victory for Colby in the match against Bowdoin.

Ryan Maher, Todd Basnight, Mark Biggar, Andy Carr, Sam Weeks, Nate Stone and Brett Willis took wins for the Colby men against Middlebury. Carr and Willis won matches for the Mules against Tufts.
