Swim teams win meets in Puerto Rico
VEGA BAJA, Puerto Rico ---- Kelly Norsworthy continued her fine start to the season with three more individual victories for the Colby College women's swimming and diving team in a meet in Puerto Rico last Saturday.
The Colby women had 108 points to win the four-team meet over Montclair State (55), Smith College (44) and College of Misericordia (23).
The Colby men won a three-team meet with 125 points over Montclair (84) and Misericordia (25).
Norsworthy won the 50 breaststroke (36.30), 100 breaststroke (1:21.22) and the 200 individual medley (2:42.99). Meanwhile, Kelsey Potdevin took the 50 backstroke (33.66), the 100 backstroke, while Jamie Warner won the 100 butterfly (34.13) and the 50 butterfly (32.51). Potdevin and Warner joined forces with Annie Muir and Meg Vallaly to take the 200 medley relay (2:13.92).
The Colby women (3-1) also received a win from Beth Foxwell in the 50 freestyle (29.68). Foxwell teamed up with Courtney Chilcote, Vallaly and Jocelyn Burke to take the 200 freestyle relay (2:02.66).
Evan Mullin won three individual events for the Colby men (2-1) with victories in the 200 freestyle (2:10.61), 100 freestyle (57.91) and 400 freestyle (4:42.58). Jabez Dewey added wins in the 50 backstroke (27.98) and 100 backstroke (1:06.55).
The men also received wins from Chris DeSantis in the 50 breaststroke (33.34) and Sam Wampler in the 50 freestyle (25.87). Dewey, DeSantis, Andrew Peterson and Wampler won the 200 medley relay in 1:57.97.
Colby is home Saturday against Middlebury College at 4 p.m. and then entertains Norwich University at noon on Sunday.
