Norsworthy earns another second at NCAA swim meet
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Colby College sophomore Kelly Norsworthy broke her own school record in taking second place in the 200-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night at the University of Minnesota.
Norsworthy had three individual All-American honors in the 100 breaststroke (second place), 200 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley (seventh place).
Norsworthy had a time of 2:18.18 in the championship final to finish behind Williams College senior Lindsay Payne, who had a 2:14.20 in the final after setting an NCAA record with a 2:12.83 in a preliminary race. Payne won all three events in which Norsworthy was entered.
Second place was no guarantee for Norsworthy, who had a 2:20.21 in the 200 breaststroke in winning the New England Small College Athletic Conference title in the event. She was third in the preliminary race with a 2:21.12, trailing Allie Foster (2:20.93) of Johns Hopkins and was just ahead of Kenyon College's Jessica Connors (2:21.32). Connors was third in 2:19.06 and Foster took fourth with a 2:20.95 in the final.
In the 400 freestyle relay, Colby placed 18th in 3:41.63 with Kelsey Potdevin, Norsworthy, Courtney Chilcote and Maddie Given swimming.
