Dewey races in 50 freestyle at NCAA meet
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Colby College swimmer Jabez Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) took 47th place in the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the University of Minnesota.
Dewey was mainly using this race as a warm-up for his backstroke races the next two days at the national meet. He is the sixth seed in the 100 backstroke Friday and is seeded 21st for the 200 backstroke on Saturday's closing day.
Dewey had a time of 21.62 in the 50 freestyle after coming into the meet as the 52nd seed. He is the only male swimmer at the meet for Colby.
