Dewey closes out NCAA meet with 14th in 200 backstroke
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. --- Colby College's Jabez Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) finished up a solid meet with a 14th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night.
Dewey earned honorable mention All-America honors for his time of 1:53.34 in the event. Earlier in the day in a preliminary race, Dewey had a time of 1:52.53 to qualify 12th and make the consolation final (places 9 to 16).
Dewey was seeded 21st in the 200 backstroke, but for the third straight day finished better than his seeding. Dewey earned All-America honors on Friday night for placing fifth in the 100 backstroke.
