All-American Foster fourth in hammer throw at NCAA meet

LISLE, Ill. --- Colby College senior Jason Foster earned his second All-America honor of the year by placing fourth in the men's hammer throw at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Benedictine University on Friday.

In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, Colby sophomore Anna King finished in 10th place.

Foster took fourth place with a toss of 186-8 in the championship final to earn All-America honors for the second time this year. He placed seventh in the 35-pound weight throw at the indoor national meet to earn his first honor.

Foster placed second in his heat and was fifth overall with a throw of 179-7 in the two heats. Foster's best throw ever in the hammer was 191-2.

Wisconsin-Whitewater's Ross Knapp won the title with a throw of 198-11. MIT's Uzoma Orji took second in 198-4 and Wisconsin-Whitewater's Joe Busalacchi was third in 193-0. King was seventh last year in the NCAA meet in the steeplechase. She had a time of 10:59.51 in taking 10th place this year. Concordia's Amanda Kuca won the event in an NCAA Championships record time of 10:15.72.
