Colby has five earn All-NESCAC track and field honors
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College women's outdoor track and field athlete Jess Minty (Concord, Mass.) made her competitive debut in the 10,000-meter run a winning one and she earned All-New England Small College Athletic Conference honors on Wednesday.
Minty, Melissa Cianciolo (Hewinton, Conn.) and Anna King (Rye, N.H.) were on the women's All-NESCAC team after placing in the top three in events at last Saturday's NESCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Bowdoin College.
Jason Foster (Waterbury, Vt.) and Dan Vassallo (Wilmington, Mass.) earned all-league honors for the Colby men.
Minty, an All-American in cross country and the indoor 800 meters, went to a long distance run and captured the championship in a time of 36 minutes, 45.06 seconds.
Cianciolo placed second in the women's javelin with a throw of 118-01, while King took third in the 3,000 steeplechase in 10:53.7.
Foster was second in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 179-0 and Vassallo was runner-up in the 10,000 meters (31:31.56).
The Colby teams will compete in the New England Division III Championships this Friday and Saturday at Springfield College.
