Colby volleyball at 16-1 after league win over Bowdoin
WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College volleyball team stayed unbeaten and in first place in the New England Small College Athletic Conference with a 3-0 victory over Bowdoin College on Wednesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Colby improved to 16-1 overall and 3-0 in NESCAC play in winning by scores of 30-24, 30-28, 30-24. Bowdoin fell to 10-6 overall and 0-2 in the league. The Mules have the only unbeaten league record in the NESCAC.
Cait Cleaver (Kennett Square, Pa.) had 12 kills, 12 defensive digs and four blocks to lead Colby. First-year setter Jenny Lawrence (Lafayette, Calif.) added 29 assists and Kendall Kirby (Piedmont, Calif.) had 18 digs. Kaitlin Adams (Athol, Mass.) was strong at the net with six blocks and seven kills.
Julie Calareso (Coral Springs, Fla.) had 16 kills and nine digs to lead Bowdoin. Erin Prifogle added 12 kills and five blocks, while setter Margo Linton finished with 28 assists.
Colby and Bowdoin each travel to Connecticut College this weekend for three NESCAC matches apiece Friday and Saturday. The Mules open up with Connecticut College at 6 p.m. Friday. Bowdoin takes on Trinity College at 8 p.m.
