Colby volleyball stays unbeaten in NESCAC play
NEW LONDON, Conn. ---- The Colby College volleyball team remained
unbeaten in New England Small College Athletic Conference play and improved
to 19-1 overall with victories over Trinity College and Wesleyan University
on Saturday.
The Mules (6-0 NESCAC), ranked first in Division III in the New
England Region, took a 3-2 victory over Trinity with game scores of 25-30,
30-18, 27-30, 30-25, 15-11. Colby is 4-0 in five-game matches this season
and all four have been come-from-behind wins. The Mules also won 3-1 over
Wesleyan by game scores of 30-27, 29-31, 30-14, 30-11.
Cait Cleaver had 20 kills, including 10 in the fourth game, and
added 23 defensive digs and four blocks in the win against Trinity. Kaitlin
Adams had 13 kills and six blocks, Jenny Lawrence finished with 47 assists
and 20 digs, Megan Devlin added 29 digs and seven kills, Mariah Daly had
eight kills and five blocks, Kendall Kirby had 20 digs and Cassie
Sancartier added 14 digs.
In the win against Wesleyan, Cleaver finished with 14 kills and 14
digs. Adams had 12 kills and four blocks, while Lawrence added nine service
aces and 37 assists. Devlin had nine kills and 20 digs, Kirby had 13 digs,
and Daly and Meredith Lawler both had five kills.
