Colby has solid first half, but falls to Wesleyan

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The inside combination of Hannah Stubbs (Arlington, Va.) and Ashley Mastrangelo (Marblehead, Mass.) combined for 39 points to lead the Wesleyan University women's basketball team to a 74-62 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Stubbs had 16 of her 20 points in the second half, while Mastrangelo had 13 of her 19 points in the opening half for Wesleyan (15-6, 6-2 NESCAC).

Despite Wesleyan shooting 58 percent in the first half, Colby (7-13, 1-6) battled hard and led for much of the opening 20 minutes until a late run helped the Cardinals take a 34-33 lead at the break.

Katie McCabe (Watertown, Conn.) led the Mules with 21 points on 10-for-17 shooting and had nine rebounds (six offensive). Tracy Nale (Waterville, Maine) added 13 points and Tanya Rosbash (Newton, Mass.) had nine assists, eight points and five rebounds.
