Colby women's hockey knocks off Amherst, 5-3
AMHERST, Mass. --- Rebecca Julian, the NESCAC Player of the Week for last week, had two goals and one assist while teammate Laura Anning got her 10th goal of the year as the Colby College women's hockey team battled for a 5-3 win over Amherst College on Friday night.
After a scoreless opening period, the teams combined for five goals in about nine minutes of play in the second period. Amherst (5-8) went ahead twice only to see Colby tie the game both times and eventually go ahead for good.
Julian, Anning and Nicole Crocker had goals for Colby (8-4) in the second period. Anning, a first-year forward, leads the Mules with 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points. Julian now has eight goals in her first season. Anning tallied at 13:16 to tie the game at 2-2 and Crocker scored just 40 seconds later to give Colby the lead for good.
Laura Clemson got the eventual game-winning goal for Colby at 6:56 of the third period. Julian got the Mules' final goal at 11:25.
Genevieve Triganne had 37 saves for Colby, which plays at Connecticut College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
