Colby women's hockey wins fourth straight game
NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Colby College won for the fourth straight
time in picking up a 4-1 victory over host Connecticut College in NESCAC
women's hockey action played at Dayton Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Mules (9-4, 6-3) notched three goals over the opening 17:19 to
pull away from the Camels. Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) had a
goal and an assist for the winning side. Rebecca Julian (South Windsor,
Conn.) netted her ninth of the season for the Mules.
Colette Finley (St. Paul, Minn.) scored just 28 seconds into the
game to get the Mules off to a quick start. Heather Nickerson (Falmouth,
Mass.) added another at 2:33 of the opening period.
Connecticut College (5-8-2, 3-6) freshman Caroline Jeffrey (St.
Paul, Minn.) accounted for her team's score.
Colby net-minder Genevieve Triganne (Point Claire, Que.) made 13
saves in the complete game effort. Connecticut College senior Gabby Petrill
(Greensburg, Pa.) made 15 saves in 20 minutes of work. Freshman Lauren
Mellen (Joliet, Ill.) made 17 saves over the final two periods for the hosts.
Colby will host top-ranked Middlebury College for a 7 p.m. next
Friday.
