Colby women's hockey loses to top-ranked Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Middlebury scored four third period goals on its way to a 7-1 win over Colby in the Kenyon Arena. The top-ranked Panthers move to 10-0 on the season.
Colby took a 1-0 lead 9:37 into the first period as Heather Nickerson scored from the left face-off circle off an assist from Colette Finley. Middlebury tied the game at 16:27 as Abby Kurtz-Phelan scored a power play with a one-timer after a nice crossing pass from Karen Levin.
Shannon Sylvester gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead two minutes into the second period as she scored after a flurry in front. The lead grew to 3-1 at 5:17 as Kurtz-Phelan scored on a rebound after Genevieve Triganne had come out to make a save.
Four different players would find the back of the net in the third period to seal the win. Quizon and Sylvester scored early, while Liz Yale-Loehr and Annemarie Cellino scored late goals.
Kurtz-Phelan and Sylvester ended the game with two goals and an assist apiece, while Quizon and Cellino each had a goal and an assist.
Angie Todd made 10 saves in goal for the win, while Triganne made 29 saves in 57 minutes of action.
