Goal spurt helps Conn College beat Colby in women's hockey
WATERVILLE, Maine – The Connecticut College women’s hockey team scored three goals in a span of 43 seconds in the opening period on the way to a 5-2 victory over Colby College in the season opener for both teams Friday night at Alfond Rink.
Despite being out-shot 42-17, the Camels (1-0) received three goals at 6:40, 7:01 and 7:23 of the opening period. Suzie Connor (Bridport, Vt.) had two goals for the winners. Jill Mauer (Millbrook, N.Y.) and Meaghan McLaughlin (Morris Plains, N.J.) had one goal and one assist, while Lauren Gosnell (East Windsor, N.J.) finished with two assists. Elizabeth Bennett (Potsdam, N.Y.) also scored for the Camels.
Gabby Petrill (Greensburg, Pa.) made 40 saves, including 17 in the final period for Connecticut College.
Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) and Rebecca Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) both had one goal and one assist for Colby (0-1).
