Colby women's hockey earns win over Amherst, 2-1
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Nicole Crocker (Dover, Mass.) made her first
collegiate goal a big one as the Colby College women's hockey team took a
2-1 victory over Amherst College in New England Small College Athletic
Conference play Saturday at Alfond Rink.
Crocker scored 5:18 into the third period to give the Mules a 2-0 lead.
Fellow first-year players Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) and
Rebecca Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) had assists on the goal.
The goal was especially important because Amherst (0-2) scored at 6:36.
Lindsay Harrington (Westford, Mass.) tallied off assists from Rachel Simon
(West Orange, N.J.) and Amanda Mattei (Windsor, Conn.).
Anning scored Colby's first goal of the game at 15:26 of the second period
with assists from first-year player Amanda Comeau (Southbury, Conn.) and
sophomore Lauren Goethals (Needham, Mass.).
Genevieve Triganne (Point-Claire, Quebec) made 17 saves for Colby (1-1).
Stacey Johnston (Kingston, Ontario) had 24 stops for Amherst.
