Colby women's hockey defeats Sacred Heart again
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Lacey Brown (Freeport, Maine) stopped 37 shots and Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) had three goals to help the Colby College women's hockey team to a 4-2 non-conference win over Sacred Heart University on Saturday at Alfond Rink.
The Mules, now 12-7, took a 5-1 victory over Sacred Heart on Friday night. The Pioneers fall to 9-13-3 overall.
First-year forward Anning moved her team-best point totals to 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points. She had the lone goal of the opening period at 7:36 from Amanda Comeau (Southbury, Conn.).
Anning put Colby up 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 4:18, but Sacred Heart got a goal from Sarah Hickman (Amherst, Mass.) at 9:02 to cut the lead to one goal.
Colby once again went ahead by two goals when Nicole Crocker (Dover, Mass.) tallied at 12:40 of the second period. The Pioneers made it a 3-2 game after two periods when Michelle Panella (Marlboro, N.J.) scored at 15:31.
Anning gave the Mules an insurance goal off assists from Comeau and Colette Finley (St. Paul, Minn.) just 54 seconds into the third period.
Brown moved to 3-0 on the season as she came up big with 14 saves in the final period.
