Colby women's hockey ties 9th-ranked Bowdoin
WATERVILLE, Maine ----- Genevieve Triganne (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) had 52 saves, including 38 stops in the second and third periods, to help the Colby College women's hockey team to a 2-2 overtime tie with ninth-ranked Bowdoin College on Tuesday night at Alfond Rink.
Colby (12-7-1, 7-6-1 NESCAC) scored early goals in each of the first two periods to take a 2-0 lead. Amanda Comeau (Southbury, Conn.) scored at 3:01 of the first period off assists from Laura Anning (Ingramport, Nova Scotia) and Heather Nickerson (Falmouth, Mass.) and then tallied again 31 seconds into the second period off an assist from captain Caitlin Leahy (Ashburnham, Mass.).
Bowdoin (15-6-1, 12-3-1) tied the game in a hurry in the third period. Rebecca Selden (Hibbing, Minn.) scored at 1:33 of the final period and Meghan Gillis (Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia) tallied 1:01 later for turned out to be the final goal of the game.
Triganne stopped four shots in the extra period to finish with 42 stops in the final 45 minutes of the game. Bowdoin goalie Emileigh Mercer (Newton, Mass.) made 24 saves.
