Colby has 30 NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team
WATERVILLE, Maine ---- Colby College had 30 athletes named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Winter All-Academic Team.
The NESCAC format for selecting all-academic honors states that a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.
Colby's members on the team include: junior men's swimmer Ryan Adams (Richmond, Vt.), senior women's hockey player Lindsay Barada (New Caanan, Conn.), senior men's squash player Todd Basnight (Newton, Mass.), junior women's indoor track and field athlete Anna Bruno (Swarthmore, Pa.), senior women's indoor track and field athlete Emilie Coulson (Fish Creek, Wisc.), junior women's indoor track and field athlete Kirsten Davis (Franklin, Mass.), junior women's basketball player Meg Davis (Hopkinton, Mass.), senior women's basketball player Kate Emery (Westford, Mass.), senior men's track and field athlete Jason Foster (Waterbury, Vt.), senior men's squash player Amit Gaind (Lynnfield, Mass.), senior women's alpine skier Caitlin Healey (Fitchburg, Mass.), senior women's swimmer Sharon McMonagle (Avon, N.J.), senior women's indoor track and field athlete Jess Minty (Concord, Mass.), senior men's indoor track and field athlete Josh Montague (Worcester, Vt.), junior men's squash player Drew Moreland (Laguna Hills, Calif.), junior women's swimmer Anne Muir (Springfield, Va.), senior men's hockey player Ryan O'Flanagan (Toronto, Ontario), junior women's swimmer Weather Potdevin (Juneau, Alaska), junior men's alpine skier Ryan Praskievicz (Bethany, Conn.), senior men's squash player Drew Rausch (Owls Head, Maine), senior men's alpine skier Charlie Reed (Park City, Utah), junior women's basketball player Kate Riley (Ipswich, Mass.), junior men's basketball player Kevin Shers (Portsmouth, R.I.), senior men's Nordic skier Brandon Smithwood (Concord, Mass.), senior men's squash player Nate Stone (Bow, N.H.), junior men's indoor track and field athlete Dan Vassallo (Wilmington, Mass.), junior men's indoor track and field athlete John Waller (Lexington, Mass.), junior women's swimmer Mary Warlaumont (Chappaqua, N.Y.), senior men's squash player Sam Weeks (Keene, N.H.) and junior women's basketball player Laura Williamson (Manchester, Conn.).
Basnight and Minty each made the team for the third straight year. The pair both made it as sophomores before the NESCAC changed the guidelines to include only juniors and seniors. Barada, Basnight, Foster, McMonagle, Minty, Montague, O'Flanagan, Reed, Smithwood, Stone and Weeks all were on the team for the second straight year.
