Libby sets assist record in Colby victory
GORHAM, Maine --- Colby College junior attacker Allie Libby set a single-season record for assists as the Mules coasted to a 19-1 non-conference victory over University of Southern Maine on Monday.
Libby had one goal and six assists to reach 45 assists for the season and break the old record of 44 set by Ally King in the 2003 season. Libby has 26 goals and 45 assists for 71 points to lead the New England Small College Athletic Conference in scoring.
Elizabeth Ghilardi added four assists for Colby, which improved to 12-2 overall. The Mules also received three goals apiece from first-year players Kate Sheridan and Heather Nickerson. Sheridan reached 40 goals for the season and leads the Mules in that category. Kelsey Neville and Cary Finnegan both had two goals and one assist, while Becky Julian scored once and had two assists. Courtney Drake and Libba Cox each had two goals.
Jamie Enos made her first collegiate start in goal for Colby and made four stops.
Colby will play at Trinity College this Saturday at noon in the final regular season game.
