Libby, Sheridan, O'Brien earn women's lacrosse All-America honors

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College women's lacrosse team had another first on Wednesday with three players earning Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America honors.

Junior attacker Allie Libby (Needham/Needham, Mass.) earned first team honors, first-year midfielder Kate Sheridan (Tabor Academy/Hingham, Mass.) made the second team, and junior goaltender Catharine O'Brien (Hotchkiss School/Reading, Vt.) was on the third team.

Colby had three players earn IWLCA honors for the first time in program history.

Libby is just the second Colby women's lacrosse player to earn first team All-America honors. Kristina Stahl '99 was on the first team after the 1998 season. Libby had already been named to the Regional All-America and New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) first team.

Libby led the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in scoring with 35 goals and 53 assists for 88 points. She set single-season records for points in a season and assists in a season. Libby, a junior, heads into her final season at Colby with 67 goals and 63 assists for 130 points.

Sheridan finished second on Colby in scoring with 59 points and led the Mules with 46 goals. She also led the team in draw controls (52) and was second in ground balls (64). Sheridan was honored as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year, was on the league second team and earned first team honors on the Regional All-America squad.

O'Brien finished the season with a 13-4 record and led the NESCAC in save percentage (.530). She also was third in the conference in saves per game (11.06) and fourth in goals against average (9.92). O'Brien also earned first team honors for the region and in the NESCAC.

O'Brien has 520 saves and a 31-18 record heading into her senior season next year.

Colby won a program-best 14 games this year and made the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time. The Mules (14-4) led the NESCAC in goals per game (16.00) and set team records for points (421), goals (289) and assists (132) in a season.
